Learn about the dangers of drowsy driving

Sleep Expert Dr. Janet Kennedy warns against drowsy driving and microsleep in the car.

Drowsy driving causes over 100,000 crashes a year with more than 40% of drivers admitting to falling asleep at the wheel at least once. Sleep Expert Dr. Janet Kennedy is here to discuss the dangers of drowsy driving along with Super 8 by Wyndham’s #JourneySafe campaign.

Dr. Janet says that when driving you want to look out for slow reaction times and something called microsleep. Microsleep is when you are falling asleep spontaneously for a fraction of a second or up to even 30 seconds.

If you notice that you are drowsy, the safest bet is to get off the road and get some rest. Dr. Janet says that driving drowsy can sometimes be more dangerous than driving drunk. It is a big issue as up to 40% of drivers have admitted to falling asleep at the wheel at some point. This could have lethal results.

The holiday season is here, and that means a lot of toy buying! The Toy Association has put together some simple shopping tips for families to ensure safe play this holiday season. As a parent or caregiver, nothing is more important to you than the safety of your child.

March is sleep awareness month, and Super 8 by Wyndham is bringing attention to this issue of drowsy driving with the #JourneySafe campaign. This campaign is serving as a wake-up call to be safe and encourage people to learn about drowsy driving.
