South City woman mixing things up with her skincare products

A business by accident.

St. Louis, MO — La'Crassia Wilderness is a woman who likes to mix things up.

"I spend so much time in Soulard Market they know me by my first name there."

It's something she's been doing for years.

"As a kid I would mix chemicals though," she points out.

These days she's using kitchen utensils to add just the right amount of organic oils and natural butters for products in her skincare line, Butter Love by L.C.

"It took me four months to find the consistency that is butter love today. It creates this fluffy, whipped effect that melts onto your skin, it's really nice."

It's a company that sort of began by accident.

"I honestly was just doing it for me, I had no intention of selling it."

But one jar led to another and before she knew it she had a little stand at a fashion show.

"I had like a dry erase board that I wrote Butter Love on and I was like this is the ugliest thing," she says followe by a laugh.

Maybe, but it attracted a few customers.

"I sold eight body butters that day and it wasn't a lot, but it was so much to me."

It was exactly the nudge she needed to pour herself into the idea of making this is her full time gig.

"I came home and I hit the ground running and launched a website and got business cards and just kind of created labels and it just kind of grew from there."

She now has sugar scrubs, coffee scrubs, lip balms and detox bath salts.

"It's made with Epsom salt and Pink Himalyan Salt as well as tea leaves for detoxification. So the Epsom salt relaxes your muscles while the tea and the salt detoxifies your body." she explains.

They are all-natural, hand-made products she's now shipping all over the country.

"I just launched my face mask collection."

So this might not be the path she had planned, but she's soaking it in.
