Brentwood, MO — Kristen Lutzenberger is a mother of 4 whose been coming to a meal assembly service in Brentwood ever since the business opened in 2004.
Kristen said, "I had twins the last pregnancy and I just needed something quick and easy, they were new and it sounded like a great idea. And it was, I've kept coming."
Instead of spending time grocery shopping and cooking, Kristen spends an hour at Time for Dinner assembling meals herself. All of the ingredients are already chopped and the and recipes are all laid out for her.
She said, "Especially when I was on maternity leave an tired from feeding two babies, and two toddler sall day long, I was stressed, and it helps reduce that stress level. And then when I went back to work, it was easy again. All I had to do was pull something out of the freezer and put it in the oven."
Customers make 6 dishes For $145. Each dish serves 6 people. That breaks down to about 4 dollars a serving. Time for Dinner was started to help busy families feel less stressed.
Carolyn Wilson, co-owner, said, "Before we did this, I remember running to the grocery almost every afternoon trying to think of something to fix or looking up a recipe and this has changed by life as well as all of the customers."
After customers prepare their meals, they take them home in pans they can pop in the freezer. Then all they'll need to do is follow cooking instructions.
Carolyn said, "They take it home in fresh condition and can freeze it so when they take it out of the freezer it is like a home cooked meal."
Recipes are created by the former owner of Sydney Street Cafe, Tom McKinley.
Amy Stanford, co-owner, said, "These are the pork chops with fontina marsala sauce they are so good."
For those who don't have time to assembly their own meals, they can can just pick something up from the freezer section for a little extra money. Either way, Time for Dinner takes the stress out of dinner time.
"It does. It really, really does," Kristen said.
