You'll get more than you bargain for at this Christmas tree lot

The letters on the roof are a bit deceiving because under that roof is so much more than trees.

KIRKWOOD, Mo. -- The letters on the roof are a bit deceiving because under that roof is so much more than trees.

"This is our favorite time of year, at least mine," Dan Mitchell says.

He and his sister Kristine Clark have been preparing for the season since before Halloween.

"It's nonstop," he points out.

It is a full-service shop.

"If you buy one of these USA made stands we'll put this on the tree for you for no charge."

Actually he'll take it one step further and deliver it.

"They can call me they don't even have to pick the tree out." he adds.

Just don't expect him to decorate it.

No! (laugh) no lights, no decorations.

You can, however, find everything you need to deck the halls inside the Gingerbread Shoppe.

"Well, the Ginergerbread Shoppe has thousands and thousands of ornaments."

Every year Summit Produce at Kirkwood Farmer's Market seems to turn it up one more notch. There are lanterns that are like snow globes and holiday pictures that twinkle. You'll find all kinds of candy, wreaths and a Santa to hold your stocking. There's so much stuff you might look like a deer in the headlights when you first walk in.

Of course there's also plenty to see and purchase outside from cute wooden reindeer and snowmen to beautiful mantle pieces and center pieces.

"Some people want simple, some people want extravagant, we definitely specialize in the natural look," Clark explains.

There are also more than 600 Christmas trees on the lot at any given time.

"Well, the best kind are the frasier firs from North Carolina grown in the Blue Ridge Mountains. They have very good longevity, needle retention, they smell good," Mitchell adds.

They have several varieties in every shape and size, but the best thing they offer here is good old fashioned customer service.

So be a wise man or woman and stop by Summit Produce at Kirkwood Farmer's Market. It's an experience that will be a joy.

Summit Produce at Kirkwood Farmer's Market is open now through Christmas Eve from 9am to 9pm everyday. They will however, close a little earlier on December 24th. You can reach the market by calling 314-984-9496. You can also go to http://summitproduce.com/
