Watch: MSHP boats put on Fourth of July light show

The display isn't meant to only celebrate America’s birthday.

ST. LOUIS — The lake, boats and national anthem… it’s not your typical light display, but the Missouri State Highway Patrol is hoping the unique message will get people’s attention this Fourth of July.

Three boats lined up on a lake and flashed their lights to the tune of the Star-Spangled Banner.

But the display isn't meant to only celebrate America’s birthday.

“On land or water, have a safe Fourth of July,” the MSHP wrote at the end of the video, adding that Missourians need to pay attention, drive sober, watch their speed and buckle up.

The boat light show follows the immensely popular Christmas version the agency did with four MSHP cruisers flashing their lights in sync with a holiday song. That video was shared nearly 9,000 times.
