PEVELY, Mo. — Some may see it as paying it forward, and others may see it as a generous deed, but the selflessness of one Pevely police officer is gaining ground online.

Wednesday, the Pevely Police Department shared the story of Officer Jasper on their Facebook page. The police department said the officer spotted a family walking down Highway Z towards the Save-A-Lot store while on patrol. When the officer finished the call he was on, he saw the same family walking out of the store with groceries in hand.

Officer Jasper then pulled over and offered to give the family a ride to their home, citing the heavy construction along Highway Z. The family obliged, and upon returning to their apartment, Jasper helped carry in the groceries for them.

"Way to show the true character of a Pevely Officer, Gator," said the Facebook post. "We're thankful to have you on the team."
