Career Central: Job fair for those in underrepresented groups

Black Americans, Latinx, Asian Americans, Native Americans, women, people with disabilities and members of the LGBTQ+ community can connect with multiple recruiters

ST. LOUIS — Let's use this holiday Monday to help you plan your next career move.

Diversity-X job fair

There's another Diversity-X job fair this week.

It's virtual, and it's a chance for Black Americans, Latinx, Asian Americans, Native Americans, women, people with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ+ community to connect with top companies.

It happens Thursday, July 8 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Multiple recruiters will be looking to hire employees, including UPS, Uber, Amazon, Nike, Southwest, the Department of Justice, Apple and AT&T.

Ballpark Village offering signing bonuses

It's not too late to get a job at Ballpark Village and enjoy the vibe of the baseball season.

Ballpark Village vendors are hiring for a variety of positions right now.

Some offer signup bonuses ranging from $250 to up to $500 for cooks and front office agents.

You can apply online on the Ballpark Village website or apply in person at the offices of the SLATE Missouri Job Center. It’s located at 1520 Market Street, on the third floor.

Utility workers needed in City of St. Louis

The city's parks, forestry and refuse divisions are looking for seasonal utility workers. These jobs pay $15 an hour.

With the positions being seasonal, you'll be employed for up to six months, and you won't be covered by employee benefits. But, these jobs don't require city residency, and anyone as young as 16 years old can apply.

Responsibilities include maintaining streets and alleys, removing obstructions, litter and debris, mowing, and fertilizing grass, among other responsibilities.

Full-time utility worker needed

The city's Streets Department is looking for a utility worker. This is a full-time position with a salary and employee benefits.

You need a CDL-B driver's license, but the city will help train you to qualify. You do have to pass a drug test.

Keep in mind, this is a great time to apply for jobs with the City of St. Louis because all hiring tests and oral interviews have been suspended due to the pandemic.
