Career Central: 2 hiring fairs, a job with a $3,000 bonus and learn to maximize your earnings

This week, we have details on two job fairs, a job opportunity with a $3,000 bonus and two free financial literacy workshops.

ST. LOUIS — Career Central is not only connecting you with jobs but also with tips to make your paycheck stretch as far as it can. Along with hiring fairs, learn about financial literacy workshops happening this week. They're free and they're virtual.

SLATE's Holly Jolly Hiring Fair connects St. Louisans to jobs 

Only two dates remain for the St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) Missouri Job Center’s Holly Jolly Hiring Fair.

The next fair is Thursday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m.-noon at the offices of SLATE, which are located at 1520 Market Street, on the third floor in room 3050.

Employers participating this week include:

  • Walmart
  • Delmar Gardens
  • GT Ventures
  • Bon Appetit
  • ESS
  • Clean Tech
  • Bi-State/Metro
  • The City of St. Louis

Another job fair will take place on Friday, Dec. 3.

Recruiters will conduct interviews in person and make job offers for hundreds of open positions.

City of St. Louis makes progress on refuse hiring, encourages more applications


The City of St. Louis is making progress hiring refuse workers, but there's still time to apply for these union jobs.

Duties include operating heavy automotive vehicles that lift and load refuse, yard waste and recycling containers into trucks and then driving them to a landfill.

New hires receive a $3,000 bonus after completing a work testing period. Pay and benefits are competitive. You can find out more here.

The City of St. Louis Office of Financial Empowerment is sponsoring two financial literacy workshops. They’re virtual and free to the public.

Learn about credit and money management for the holidays on Thursday, Nov. 18 from 1-2 p.m.

Financial coach Reginald Garth will share tips and strategies for managing your spending and protecting your money from fraud.

Another workshop will help people learn how to overcome emotional spending. There’s a virtual, free workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 16 from 6-7 p.m. The seminar will be led by Reginald Garth, and you can register here.

St. Louis Virtual Job Fair is Thursday

UPS, Uber and Amazon are just some of the companies hiring at the St. Louis Virtual Job Fair.

It's happening Thursday, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m.

This is all online, but you'll be able to interview with recruiters from multiple companies all in the same location and on the same day.
