5 people shot in north St. Louis in 6-hour window

ST. LOUIS — A spree of shootings around north St. Louis broke out late Sunday night, one of which left an 8-year-old hit with a bullet.

The first shooting happened just before 8 p.m. along the 5700 block of Natural Bridge. According to police, a man was shot in the leg, and an 8-year-old was struck in the chest and shoulder during the incident. Both the man and the child were conscious and breathing when police arrived.

About one hour later, a man was found shot in the 5400 block of Emerson in the Walnut Park East neighborhood. He was not conscious or breathing when police arrived. The homicide division was called in to help with the case.

Then, just before 10:30 p.m., one man was found shot along Doctor Martin Luther King Drive and Marcus Avenue. He was found conscious and breathing when police arrived.

Lastly, a woman was found shot in the leg at the intersection of Marcus Avenue & McMillan Avenue. She was found conscious and breathing when police arrived.

The conditions of those shot have not been released.
