Missouri police officer charged with sex crime against minor

The 41-year-old man is a police officer with the Centralia Police Department.

WENTZVILLE, Mo. — A Centralia, Missouri, police officer is facing a federal charge after police said he traveled to Wentzville in an attempt to have sex with a minor.

A press release from the Department of Justice said 41-year-old Clint Baer was charged with using interstate commerce for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual contact with a minor.

The press release said Baer, a police officer with the Centralia Police Department, contacted someone he thought was the mother of a 14-year-old girl through a fetish website. The person he was talking with was actually an undercover FBI agent.

After chatting for months, Baer exchanged sexually explicit texts and phone calls through the website and Kik saying he wanted to have sex with the girl and her mother.

In October, he traveled from Centralia to Wentzville with the intention to engage in sexual activity with both. He was arrested in Wentzville and is being held in federal custody.
