EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. — A family in East St. Louis said a car collided with their home after a police chase wound up in their neighborhood.

Tuesday night, Demond Fletcher said his brother and 73-year-old mother were disrupted by the SUV around 10 p.m. once it crashed into the front end of their home. He alleged the SUV was involved in a police pursuit, which police later confirmed to 5 On Your Side.

Fletcher said his mother was sitting on their patio less than 20 minutes prior to the crash. She had walked inside to make a snack, which is when the car crashed into the house.

No one was injured during the incident, although the family does not know how to proceed due to the damage.

East St. Louis police told 5 On Your Side the driver of the SUV was placed into custody following the crash.
