ST. LOUIS — A man is facing charges after police said he pointed an AR-15 at people walking in The Grove Thursday.

Freddy Doyle, 31, was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and one count of possession of methamphetamine in connection with the incident.

Police said they were patrolling in the area of Rehab, a bar in The Grove, when they heard a shot. Three people said Doyle pointed the gun at them before shooting into the air, so officers took him into custody when they found him standing next to an SUV.

While arresting him, the officers spotted two extended magazines and a bag of suspected methamphetamine in the car and confiscated the items. The suspected drugs were tested and confirmed to be meth.

Police said security video showed Doyle pointing the gun at the people before shooting into the air. It also showed him dropping the gun near a different car.

The security video showed he tried to go back to get the gun but was arrested first, police said.
