ALTON, Ill. — A man is facing murder charges after investigators with the Major Case Squad said he shot and killed two men inside of a Metro East home.

Vincent Gordon, 35, was charged with first-degree murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and violating his parole by removing his electronic monitoring device.

Around 10:30 p.m. Monday, the Alton Police Department responded to the 3100 block of Lawn Street for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, responding officers found two men shot to death inside of the home.

Police identified the shooting victims as Elijah Ingram, 30, of Alton, Ill.; and Derrick Vaughn, 28, of Alton, Ill. The suspected gunman fled before police got there, but developed Gordon as a suspect. Investigators said they thought he may have known the victims.

On Wednesday, investigators with the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis announced they arrested a person of interest in the case. Gordon was charged a few hours later.

Gordon was charged with four counts of first-degree murder. Two of the charges say Gordon shot the men "thereby causing the death" of the victims while the other two said she shot the victims "knowing such act created a strong probability of death or great bodily harm."
