ST. LOUIS — A 55-year-old man was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to carjacking and gun charges.
According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, 55-year-old Kerry Caldwell was sentenced Wednesday after carjacking a woman at gunpoint outside a Commerce Bank in October 27, 2017.
The press release said the victim jumped out of the passenger door of the car before Caldwell drove off the lot.
Police spotted the car a short time later and started chasing it. Police eventually spotted Caldwell walking and took him into custody. The car was found crashed into a tree.
He will serve 15 years in prison for one felony count of carjacking and one felony count of brandishing a firearm to commit a violent crime.
