A man suffered a minor injury after he was shot in the lobby of the Bayless High School gymnasium during a basketball game Friday night.
St. Louis County police said three men confronted a man in the lobby of the gym just after 7 p.m. One of the three men pulled out a gun and fired one shot, which grazed the man in the leg.
County officers were working the boys basketball game between Affton and Bayless high schools going on inside the gym at the time, but the suspects had already gotten into a car and fled the scene by the time officers ran after them.
The gym was placed on lockdown at the time of the incident, and later evacuated. A spokeswoman for Affton High School said the game has been canceled, and all students are safe. The school posted a parent alert to their website.
Bayless High School Assistant Superintendent Michael Hawkins released a statement saying they believe neither the shooter nor victim were students at Bayless High School.
