ST. CHARLES, Mo. — An off-duty officer in St. Charles was shot at after approaching two men attempting to steal fireworks.
Early Wednesday morning around 2:30 a.m., an off-duty officer with the City of St. Charles, who was working as security at a firework tent in the 1400 block of South Fifth Street, confronted the two suspects inside the stand. One of the suspects fired at the off-duty officer and was grazed in the upper body.
The suspects then drove away in a black Mercedes Benz, last seen heading eastbound on Interstate 70.
The officer shot by the suspect was transported to the hospital for treatment of a nonlife-threatening injury.
Police are investigating.
