Police: Man crashed 4-wheeler into Fourth of July party, running over girl's leg

Police said he drove through a road block before crashing into a group of people and ran over the girl's leg.

JENNINGS, Mo. — A man is facing charges after police said he drove an ATV into a block party crowd and ran over a 5-year-old girl's leg on the Fourth of July.

Taylor Bloate, 36, was charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest by fleeing and fleeing the scene of an accident.

According to charging documents, Bloate drove a four-wheeler through a roadblock and into a crowd of people on McLaran Avenue last Thursday. Charging documents said he ran over the leg of a 5-year-old girl before fleeing the scene in a car.

When police eventually spotted him driving the car and tried to pull him over, he sped off. Police said he ran a red light and T-boned another car in the intersection.

He was taken into custody after the crash.
