BRENTWOOD, Mo. — A Brentwood woman is facing charges after police said she stole money from the Brentwood High School Parent Teacher Organization to pay her rent.
Police said Tamara Denise Jenkins was charged with one count of stealing more than $750 after police said she admitted to stealing from the PTO bank account while serving as the organization's treasurer.
Charging documents said police were called after the PTO president discovered some missing money in March of 2017. During the investigation, police said they found security video that showed Jenkins making unauthorized withdrawals. They also said she used a debit card for the account to make a money order to pay her rent.
After she was arrested, she admitted stealing from the bank account. She also told police she lied about losing $8,000 of cash after a trivia night fundraiser.
She was charged with stealing of $750 or more, a class D felony. Her bond was set at $10,000.
