ST. LOUIS — One of the city’s most popular neighborhoods is dealing with multiple robberies and assaults in broad daylight in just the past few days.

Police say a man was attacked in the 4400 block of Olive on Sunday around 5:45 p.m. Witnesses say a group of teenagers attacked a man trying to take his cell phone.

Tuesday, Jim Whyte with the Central West End’s Neighborhood Security Initiative tells 5 On Your Side two women were robbed at gunpoint around 3 p.m. near Pershing and Euclid. Whyte says there was another call for an incident involving a possible assault by a group of teens the same day and on Sunday he says a woman was robbed at a bus stop near Delmar and Euclid. Whyte says his non-profit has “remarkable” video surveillance that should help police solve the crimes.

Emmett McKenna says he and his wife witnessed one of the incidents on Sunday involving the teenagers.

He said they were threatened by the teens not to call the police, but they did anyway and responding officers told his wife that there were “teenagers in the area on a rampage” breaking into cars and harassing people.
