Two 14-year-old boys and a 16-year-old are accused of shooting and killing a grandfather in north St. Louis County early Friday morning. On Monday, the victim's stepson had a heartfelt message for the young suspects.

The teenagers were taken into custody for the shooting of Steven White, 71.

White's stepson, Anthony Dunlap, says the elderly man leaves behind eight children and at least 23 grandchildren. Dunlap says his father was on his way to pick up a friend early Friday morning and was killed as soon as he got out of the car.

Police haven't released a motive for the shooting. Dunlap believes White may have been set up to get robbed. Dunlap believes the suspects may have thought his stepdad would make an easy target since he's an elderly man.

Dunlap had this message for the teenagers accused of killing the man.

"You guys need to go out and get an education," he said. "I wish the city of St. Louis would come up with more things for the young, so they wouldn't be out at 2 in the morning robbing and killing people."

The teenagers are being held in juvenile custody. If you know anything about this case call CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS.

The family also has a GoFundMe page set up for funeral arrangements.
