A woman was charged with identity theft Monday after police said she used another woman's personal information to rack up nearly $20,000 in medical bills in 2015.

According to charging documents, Lesley Rankin used someone else's personal and insurance information when she was admitted to DePaul Hospital on three separate occasions between March 3 and 8, 2015.

Charging documents said police responded to a sick call at a bus stop, where they found Rankin. She gave the officers the name, but her own phone number. The bills totaled $19,463.

After running up the charges, the officer, as well as medical personnel from the hospital, identified her photo as the woman they treated under the name of the victim, charging documents said.

She is facing one count of identity theft and her bail was set at $25,000.
