Woman killed in crash with stolen car in north St. Louis

The woman has been identified as 24-year-old Jovanna Young.

ST. LOUIS — A woman was killed when the car she was in was hit by a stolen car in St. Louis' Vandeventer neighborhood Monday evening.

Police said the crash happened at around 7:15 near the intersection of Finney Avenue and N Sarah Street. Police said the driver of the stolen car hit the white SUV the woman was in, launching it off the road and away from the intersection. 

She was pronounced dead on the scene. The woman has been identified as 24-year-old Jovanna Young.

Police said the driver of the stolen car fled on foot from the scene but was taken into custody. There was also a 7-year-old in the car at the time of the crash, but police said no one else was injured.

Accident reconstruction crews are investigating.
