SLU student found critically injured in the Central West End Thursday morning

Saint Louis University students told 5 On Your Side the incident has caused confusion and fear on campus.

ST. LOUIS — An investigation is underway after a Saint Louis University student was found critically injured off-campus Thursday morning.

Police responded to the 3900 block of Lindell Boulevard, which is along the edge of the Central West End neighborhood, around 9:45 a.m.

The woman in her 20s was found critically injured. She was transported to a hospital where she’s in critical condition.

Police said her injuries are 'undetermined.'

She was found near the entrance of a parking garage and her belongings were found on the top floor of the parking garage.

A spokesperson from Saint Louis University said they are working to get in touch with the woman’s parents. A gathering was held at 2:30 p.m. on-campus for students to come together during this difficult time.

SLU officials spoke with the media Thursday afternoon and said the university is cooperating with police.

As of 4 p.m. Thursday, a spokesperson from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said there is no suspect being sought as a result of her injuries, but the investigation is ongoing.

Editor's note: Police originally said the woman was found shot multiple times.

Students told 5 On Your Side's Jenna Barnes the incident is causing confusion and worry on campus. They want more information from administrators.

"I think a lot of people are devastated and scared. Like, I'm looking for apartments for next year, and I'm not even looking in that area anymore because if it is gunshots, that's kinda scary," sophomore Natalia Ritter said.

"It doesn't really make me feel safe," senior Atem Ayukobi said. "If it concerns all of our safety, I feel like people should know what's going on."

The university tweeted out a statement saying there will be services available for students. The school said police are trying to figure out "if, in fact, a crime has occurred."
