JENNINGS, Mo. - An investigation is underway after a woman was shot to death in Jennings Wednesday morning.

Police responded to Family Dollar at 6440 West Florissant around 10:50 a.m. where a 32-year-old woman was found suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

"I'm said. I'm angry. I mean it's a lot of emotions going through me." said Don Lyles.

Lyles said a routine Wednesday morning turned into heartbreak.

"They said Don they shot your sister."

Lyonell Murphy had just stepped outside his work as police were arriving on scene.

"It was chaos. It was total chaos," he said. "I mean police cars pulling up left and right."

He says what he saw next took him by surprise.

"I saw a body lying in the front door and a girl was running around screaming 'Old my god, Oh my god. My mama. My mama.'"

Wednesday afternoon, police announced they have a person of interest in custody. He has not been identified, but police say he's 42 years old.
