ST. LOUIS — The Missouri Lottery is holding events to celebrate nine St. Louis area businesses for raising $2.3 million for public education.
The businesses will be inducted into the Million Dollar Club, which is an elite group of retailers who sold $1 million or more in Lottery products during 2018.
Each business will receive a framed certificate recognizing their efforts to generate money for a good cause.
“We could not generate funding for public education without retailers like these,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery.
The St. Louis area businesses, locations and times are listed in order of events below.
Dierbergs at 12420 Tesson Ferry Road, St. Louis (63128). Noon to 2 p.m. on May 20. $253,439 raised.
Wallis Petroleum at 3225 Hampton Ave., St. Louis (63139). Noon to 2 p.m. on May 20. $252,655 raised.
Schnucks Market at 6600 Clayton Road, St. Louis (63117). 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on May 21. $315,531 raised.
Schnucks Market at 60 Hampton Village Plaza, St. Louis (63109). 11 a.m. to noon on May 21. $287,834 raised.
Wallis Petroleum at 2311 Upper Bottom Road, St. Charles. Noon to 1 p.m. on May 22. $243,554 raised.
Circle K at 1108 S. Florissant Road, St. Louis (63121). 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. $238,293 raised.
Schnucks Market at 11253 St. Charles Rock Road, Bridgeton. 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 23. $325,443 raised.
Wallis Petroleum at 9765 Mackenzie Road, Affton. Noon to 1 p.m. on May 24. $273,501 raised.
Schnucks Market at 3431 Union Blvd., St. Louis (63115). 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 24. $259,251 raised.
Including the nine St. Louis area businesses, 81 retail locations earned the Million Dollar Club status.
According to Reardon, the money contributed to public education based on Lottery sales benefits an array of programs.
Virtual Schools, Special Education Excess Costs, A+ Scholarships and the Classroom Trust Fund are some that benefit.
In 2018, educational programs in St. Louis County and St. Louis City received more than $35.8 million in funding based on lottery sales.
