Friends remember Ally Kostial's joy at vigil

Nearly 100 people held candles and shared memories of the Lindbergh High grad.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Her smile and her light will never be forgotten. Ally Kostial's friends are making sure of that.

Nearly 100 people gathered at Lindbergh High School for a candlelight vigil to remember her.

Kostial’s friends said they appreciated the turnout, but Kostial would have appreciated it even more because there was nothing she loved more than having her friends together.

There were lots of hugs and lots of tears, but there was also laughter, as Kostial’s friends remembered swimming at the Sunset Hills pool, half price tacos at Mission Taco and road trips to check out colleges.

“I want everyone to focus on how good of a person she was and how much joy she brought into the world and how positive she was, not the situation,” friend Casey Hendrickson said.

The vigil was just for people who knew Kostial, but there will be a public visitation for her Friday at Concordia Lutheran Church in Kirkwood from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Her funeral will be held at the same church on Saturday at 10 a.m.
