Ferguson-Florissant and Riverview Gardens School Districts to start meal distribution

Students in the school district will still be able to get meals provided by the districts even though they're learning from home

ST. LOUIS — Two local school districts are making sure students have access to food during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Ferguson-Florissant

After suspending the program for two weeks, the Ferguson-Florissant School District will return distributing meals to students with a new plan.

The district will resume meal distribution starting on Monday, April 20 at two locations.

Families can go to The Savoy in Ferguson and Empower North County at Trinity Church in Florissant to take part in the meal distribution in a drive-thru fashion.

The Savoy location will distribute meals on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Breakfast and lunch items for two days will be available at this location.

The Empower location will be distributing five days of breakfast and lunch items every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"I'm pleased to share that we have developed a plan to resume meal distribution to our families with the help of some great community partners," Superintendent Dr. Joseph Davis said.

The district said they are working to have additional distribution points available soon.

Riverview Gardens

The Riverview Gardens School District will also be offering food packet distribution.

Starting on Tuesday, April, 21, families will be able to pick up food items at two locations.

On Tuesdays, families can go to Zion Travelers Church off Chambers Road from 10 a.m. to noon.

On Thursdays, families can go to the Dellwood Recreation Center off West Florissant Avenue from 10 a.m. to noon.

Like with the Ferguson-Florissant program, this will also be a drive-thru pick up, with social distancing rules being practiced.

Students do not need to be present to pick up food.
