IMPERIAL, Mo. – A woman was killed and five others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Imperial this morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Candace M. Dix, a 27-year-old St. Louis woman, was driving north on Highway 61/67 when she crossed the center line at around 7:40 Tuesday morning. One car tried to swerve out of the way — hitting a third car — but was struck head-on and flipped onto its side.

Dix was not wearing a seatbelt and was killed in the crash. The car she struck head-on was carrying a 25-year-old woman and two boys, age 8 and 10. The woman and the 8-year-old suffered serious injuries. The 10-year-old suffered minor injuries.

The third vehicle was carrying two, including a 4-year-old girl. Both suffered minor injuries.

The roadway was closed for an investigation but has since reopened.
