Police say 1-year-old boy in Berkeley died of natural causes

The department's Crimes Against Persons Bureau is investigating. The release said the investigation remains very active.

BERKELEY, Mo. — Police said that a 1-year-old boy died on Wednesday night of natural causes.

According to a press release from the St. Louis County Police Department, officers were called to a home on Hancock Avenue in Berkeley at around 4:15 for a report of an unresponsive child.

The 13-month-old was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The department's Crimes Against Persons Bureau initially investigated the death as suspicious but determined Thursday there was no foul play.

This was the second child death police investigated Wednesday. Less than an hour before this incident, a 2-year-old was fatally shot in Glasgow Village.
