A $10.5 million, transit-oriented development will begin construction in Swansea, Illinois, in 2017.

According to a press release from the Southwestern Illinois Development Authority(SWIDA), the new complex will be near the Swansea MetroLink station, allowing residents to take advantage of car-free transportation.

The project is expected to be completed by late summer of 2018. The project was made possible by a partnership between SWIDA, the Bywater Development Group and Bi-State Development, and was approved by the Illinois Housing Development Authority.
