2 escape early morning fire in Wildwood

It took firefighters more than five hours to put out the fire. A man and woman were able to escape the fire.

The Metro West Fire Department worked a fire in the early morning hours of Sunday in Wildwood.

Two people escaped an early morning house fire in Wildwood Sunday morning.

The Metro West Fire Department said the fire broke out at around 2:30 on 2900 block of Country Pointe Court. A man and woman were inside the home when the fire started, but both escaped safely.

Metro West said the fire was so big they had to call a second alarm. Firefighters finally finished putting out hotspots at 8 a.m.

A division chief said the fire is under investigation but appears to be accidental.
