MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ill. — Two people were killed in a head-on crash on Interstate 55 in Montgomery County, Illinois, early Sunday morning.

The Illinois State Police said 36-year-old Dannean Royston was driving a silver Chevrolet Cruz the wrong way on southbound I-55 near Farmersville at around 12:32 a.m. when he crashed into a Nissan Rogue head-on. The driver of that car, 54-year-old Cheryl True, also died.

Police said the Nissan then spun and sideswiped a tractor-trailer and another car. The drivers of those cars were not seriously injured.

After all four of those cars came to a stop, a Megabus carrying 54 people crashed into the Nissan involved in the first crash. The driver of the bus was seriously injured and five passengers suffered minor injuries.

The crash investigation is ongoing.
