FLORISSANT, Mo. – Two students were arrested on Tuesday after a loaded handgun was found at McCluer High School.

Administration received a report that a student had a loaded handgun on school campus. Administration along with a Florissant police school resource officer immediately investigated and found the student and handgun.

The student – who has not been identified – was arrested and the case is being forwarded to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

A second student, who is a juvenile, was also arrested for taking possession of the gun from the other student and hiding it in a book bag. The student was referred to St. Louis County Family Court.

A spokesperson said McCluer did not go on lockdown because the gun and students were found immediately.

Statement from McCluer

"We did not have a gun found today. We did receive a report yesterday of a student with a gun. Administration and the School Resource Officer immediately investigated and located the student and the handgun. The student and another student who helped hide the gun were arrested.

We are thankful we received the report. We encourage students if they see something to say something and report any unsafe situation or rumors to a trusted adult or through our online reporting tool, www.psstworld.com.
