Couple caught on camera stealing puppy returns him to SA Humane Society

The San Antonio Humane Society is looking for a blonde Alaskan Husky, who was stolen from their facility by a couple on Saturday.

San Antonio — The dog stolen from the San Antonio Humane Society on Saturday was returned on Sunday morning, according to the shelter.

The SA Humane Society said the couple that was caught on camera stealing the blonde Alaskan Husky returned him at the shelter's front doors on Sunday and promptly left the scene.

The shelter was asking for the public's help on Saturday after a 9-month-old puppy was taken from their shelter that afternoon.

Staff at the shelter said that the couple came in around 12:40 p.m. asking to see a blonde Alaskan Husky named Hedge-Hog.

"They presented themselves as typical adopters," said Aaron Grady, director of operations at the Humane Society. "Staff members did the typical rundown on the dog’s personality and handed Hedge-Hog over."

Grady said that it was about 20-30 minutes later when staff realized that the couple took off.

"They work a lot with pets and so they get attached, and their mission is to find them good homes and when they're not able to do that, they take it hard, especially in a circumstance like this where there is a lot of unknowns,” Grady said.

The shelter's cameras captured the couple and the car they drove off in. The staff hoped someone would recognize the dog or the couple.

"We appreciate any support that you can offer," Grady said. "We like to get every adoption right and find him a loving home."
