ST. LOUIS COUNTY — The race for Missouri's 2nd Congressional District is set.

There were no surprises in the Republican primary, as Ann Wagner was declared the winner early in the evening. As for her opponent, she will face off against Cort VanOstran.

Wagner took office after winning the 2012 election by 23 percent over Democrat Glenn Koenen. In the years since, the closest race she's had was a 20 percent victory over Bill Otto in 2016.

Before becoming a Congresswoman, Wagner worked for the co-chair of the Republican National Committee, U.S. Ambassador to Luxembourg and the Chairwoman for Roy Blunt's 2010 Senate campaign.

VanOstren is an attorney who first engaged in politics as a volunteer precinct captain for Claire McCaskill’s first race for the United States Senate.
