ALTON, Ill. – The body of a missing 39-year-old woman from Alton has been found, police said in a press conference on Tuesday.

Adria Jean Hatten went missing on Jan. 21. She was last seen in Wood River.

On Jan. 25, police located Hatten’s vehicle in a muddy field. Police also located an ‘article,’ which helped lead their search, along with Illinois State Police Air Patrol.

Hatten’s body was found about 30 feet from the water around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning in Horseshoe Lake State Park.

It’s unclear how long she had been dead.

Right now the Madison County Sheriff’s office is treating this as a suspicious death but said they do not suspect foul play.

They believe Hatten was alone when she disappeared.

The investigation is ongoing. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
