Boys & Girls Club to host water safety camp

The camp kicked off at 9 a.m. Monday and will conclude at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

ST. LOUIS — The City of St. Louis wants to ensure the safety of everyone in the city during the hot summer months, and that process begins with basic water safety tips.

Beginning Monday, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater St. Louis and ZAC Foundation will co-host a water safety camp. The collaboration, which runs through Thursday, will feature life-saving skills to a group of more than 100 five to nine-year-olds. These kids will be taught the importance of water safety through swimming classes, classroom teachings and a variety of hands-on practices with first responders.

Several St. Louis leaders will be on hand throughout the camp, including St. Louis Fire Chief Dennis Jenkerson, St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson, St. Louis Police Chief John Hayden and president of the Boys & Girls Club, Dr. Flint Fowler.

The camp kicked off at 9 a.m. Monday and will conclude at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

The Boys & Girls Club is located at 2901 North Grand Avenue. For more information, call them at (314) 335-8000.
