CLAYTON, Mo. — Glass was discovered at the bottom of the main pool in Shaw Park Tuesday afternoon, forcing the closure of the pool.

A post on the Clayton website said the glass was discovered Tuesday afternoon and the pool was closed immediately. The post said the process of draining the pool will take three days.

The pool is scheduled to reopen for regular hours on July 6. In the meantime, the children's pool and dive pools will remain open. Part of the dive pool will be converted for swimming laps.

Because of the cleanup, the city's Fourth of July plans have changed. They planned to have music, games and bomb pops Wednesday from 1 to 4 p.m., but that celebration has been moved to Sunday, July 8.

The post said season pass holders may use the indoor pools at The Center of Clayton as well as the outdoor Maplewood Family Aquatic Center at no charge by presenting a Clayton Parks and Recreation card during the closure. For more information, click here.
