See where St. Louis ranks: U.S. News rates the best places to live

St. Louis appears behind the Missouri cities of Kansas City and Springfield in U.S. News & World Report's latest ranking of the best places to live.

The new list, released Tuesday, ranks the nation's 125 largest metro areas based on affordability, job prospects and quality of life.

St. Louis came in at No. 89, behind Kansas City at No. 58 and Springfield at No. 66.

St. Louis received an overall score of 6.2 out of 10, with 5.4 for quality of life, 7.5 for value, 6.8 for job market, 5.7 for desirability and 5.3 for net migration.

Austin, Texas, took the No. 1 spot for the second consecutive year, with Colorado Springs, Colorado, coming in second, bumping Denver to No. 3.
