ST. LOUIS BUSINESS JOURNAL -- St. Louis restaurants racked up 19 awards in Wine Spectator magazine’s Restaurant Awards this year, up from 15 in 2017.

The awards are given based on selection, whether wines are appropriate considering a restaurant's cuisine, and whether the drinks appeal to a wide range of wine lovers, the magazine said.

Wine Spectator hands out awards in three categories: the Award of Excellence, represented by one wine glass; the Best of Award of Excellence, represented by two wine glasses; and the Grand Award, represented by three wine glasses.
