A 17-year-old girl died after crashing her car, and now her father has a warning for teen drivers and their parents.

St. Louis County Police say Lauryn Wade was driving along New Jamestown Road in Florissant Sunday afternoon when she lost control and crashed into a tree. She died at the scene. Four other teens, ranging in age from 15 to 18, were injured. Police say Wade was speeding, but that all of the passengers were wearing their seat belts.

Lauryn’s father, Booker Wade, said he drove the area after learning of his daughter’s death and said it can be dangerous, especially for young, inexperienced drivers.

"Hopefully, people learn from this and take that road more seriously because, in the blink of an eye, you can lose your 17-year-old child," Wade said.

Lauryn Wade was a junior at Hazelwood East High School. Her father said she was a talented musician with dreams of performing on Broadway.
