De Soto residents voiced their concerns with the plan to utilize outside help, so the city council changed plans.

DE SOTO, Mo. — The city of De Soto will keep its own police force after all.

The decision comes about a week after the city council said it approved a package to pay the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department to provide some support. De Soto residents voiced their concerns with the plan to utilize outside help, so they changed plans.

Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak said De Soto also selected a new police chief.
