ST. LOUIS – It's a trend that typically goes unreported, but that doesn't mean it's not dangerous. Several people in Tower Grove South have been sharing on social media that they have been "egged."
"This is just childish behavior,” said Philip Shortal, who lives and works in the Tower Grove South neighborhood. “It's a feeling of just annoyance that this has to happen in our neighborhood.”
Shortal had just finished his shift at work. It was about 1:15 a.m. Saturday when a car drove up next to him. The drivers, he said, were two young people between the ages of 18 and 20.
“Initially, when they pulled up very slowly, I froze for a few seconds,” he said. “Because you never know if someone is just going to pull out a gun."
Shortal said the driver’s yelled at him. That’s when they threw eggs right at him. Shortal is not the only one. Neighbors told 5 On Your Side there were three other egging’s on the same night.
“They came up Gravois, down Morgan Ford and then that’s when they tried to egg me and that’s when they went to South Grand,” Shortal said.
Shortal is asking that people look out for a red sports car. He said the drivers drove off before he could see the license plate.
St. Louis Police told 5 On Your Side that they have not received any official reports of egging in the area.
