Police looking for duct-taped van in connection with elderly woman found dead in St. Louis house fire

Police said the circumstances of her death were suspicious.

ST. LOUIS — Police are looking for a unique-looking van in connection with a homicide investigation launched after a woman who was found dead after a house fire in St. Louis' Baden neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

The St. Louis Fire Department said that it responded to a fire with a report of a person trapped on the 900 block of Riverview Boulevard at around 4 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find a one-story brick home with heavy smoke coming out of the building. Firefighters extinguished the fire.

The St. Louis Police Department said an elderly woman was found dead inside the home. Police said the circumstances of the death were suspicious.

Now, police are looking for a blue van. They said the window on the passenger side, sliding door was replaced with duct tape.

The woman has not been identified. The Regional Bomb & Arson unit was also on scene investigating the cause of the fire.
