INTERACTIVE RADAR | Potential for heavy rain, strong storms Wednesday afternoon

Scattered thunderstorms have been producing downpours this afternoon and evening.
Storm Alert

ST. LOUIS — Storm Alert through Wednesday evening for the potential of heavy rain and a few strong storms

Scattered thunderstorms continue around metro St. Louis Wednesday evening as 5 On Your Side stays in Storm Alert.

There is a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms this afternoon, especially over southern Illinois and southeast Missouri. The main risk will be wind and lightning and downpours. Scattered thunderstorms will become more isolated after dark.

High temperatures are expected to only be in the lower 80s with the clouds and rain.

Thursday's rain chances look quite low. Another chance for thunderstorms returns by Friday. Temperatures will rise into the upper 80s for the end of this week and the weekend, with only a stray storm chance on Saturday, followed by a mainly dry day Sunday. Another widespread area of rain arrives for Monday into early Tuesday. The rain should help with the drought conditions across parts of the area.
