A high speed chase and manhunt tied up police in two states Wednesday.
Police say it started with a report of a theft at a Kmart and ended with a dramatic capture involving police dogs.
A St. Louis County Police spokesman says after getting a larceny report at a Kmart on Lemay Ferry road, four people fled from police in a stolen vehicle.
Police pursued them into Columbia, Illinois.
The car eventually went off the road near a subdivision near Palmer Road and Route 3.
The people inside bailed but police dogs found three of them hiding under bushes in a wooded area. Police planes were also involved in the hour long search.
One was at a nearby store.
According to Columbia police, Brandon S. Van Doren, 21, was the driver. Van Doren was charged with possessing heroin, resisting a peace officer, possession of a stolen vehicle and various other traffic offenses.
Shawn Lamb, 23, was charged with resisting a peace officer and unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle and fugitive from justice.
Tosha Fox, 23, and Tesch Sensabaugh, 22, were also charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting a Peace Officer.
Multiple agencies including the Illinois State Police, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office and the Columbia Police Department were involved in the capture.
