Woman killed in Macoupin County crash

MACOUPIN COUNTY, Ill. — A woman was killed in a crash Sunday morning in Macoupin County.

Illinois State Police responded to Route 267, south of Gun Club Road for a two-car crash around 6:30 a.m.

A 29-year-old man driving a Ford Fusion crossed into the oncoming lane and hit a Honda Civic driven by 35-year-old Rebecca Droste.

Droste was pronounced dead by the Macoupin County Coroner.

The 29-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries. The Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation.
