MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. – A man is in critical condition after an officer-involved shooting in Maryland Heights near Westport Plaza.

The incident started Wednesday night when officers were called to a home where a man shot at a woman. Police said the 31-year-old man got away from the scene.

Officers responded to the 2200 block of Congressional Drive around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.

During a press conference police said St. Louis County police detectives went to where the man works in Maryland Heights. The man tried to get away and pulled out a gun, when he turned towards officers — that's when the police officer fired his weapon. Police believe the man was shot one time.

No officers were injured in the incident.
