ST. LOUIS — Kevin Fern walked into St. Louis Saturday on his 87th day of walking since leaving a Los Angeles Children’s Hospital in April – on foot.
His destination is another hospital in Boston. He’s walking across the country to raise awareness and funds for camps that specialize in catering to the needs of kids fighting cancer.
The 50-year-old beat Hodgkin’s Lymphoma when he was a teenager and said while treatments have changed, he knows children still need more than medicine.
Kevin hopes to raise $250, 000 by the end of his long walk.
The money will fund grants for camps all over the country, including five in Missouri.
