HILLSBORO, Mo. – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Hillsboro Police Department, is investigating after members of Hillsboro police stole from the city, according to a press release.
Jefferson County police said there was a loss of leadership within the Hillsboro Police Department due to this investigation. And in the absence of leadership, Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak assigned Lieutenant Patrick Hawkins to ‘command the city of Hillsboro.’
“Everyone in our county deserves quality policing, (from the police officers to the citizens) and insight into issues within the City of Hillsboro Police Department demanded our support and intervention,” said Marshak.
The investigation is ongoing.
